Not a counselling related issue in and of itself but an important social issue. The belief is the beginning, the action is the ending. As a previous sexual assault counsellor and as a trauma therapist, I see the harmful effects on women and children by both the belief and often the traumatizing action. I encourage you to add your support to these issues.
Contribute to local non profits that provide counselling and legal support for victims of violence, sign petitions and donate to agencies that are working to change laws to more fairly address violence against women. And share empowerment like this – so that we can see more good and healthy men standing up for other human beings regardless of gender. It takes courage and character for these men to stand with these statements. It is both impressive and encouraging as a women to witness. Well done men.
